Roland is from origin a City planner, but also always has had a great interest in digital (GIS) and data. After working in the field of research and as a City planner, several years ago this combined fascination for cities an digital led to the idea that the reality of what our city defines, is changing. We don’t live anymore in a social-physical city in which digital is mostly seen as an instrument. No we are heading towards a social-physical-digital city, in which digital is completely connected and intertwined with the tradional social-physical city. This idea led to a whole bunch of new questions. The Digital City program, of which Roland is the manager, is set up to try to find answers to these new questions.
