Deniz Atal Demirbacak Speaker

Deniz Atal has spent 15 years figuring out how technology can make teaching better – and VR for climate education is her most urgent experiment yet.

As a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University, she works on VISTA – putting secondary school students inside the consequences of climate change through immersive virtual reality. Her background spans teacher education, instructional design and emerging technologies, with research stints at Leiden University and Texas State University sharpening her international perspective.

She brings both the academic rigour and the classroom instinct to ask: what does it actually take to make young people care?
