Art & Creative Industries Track Where immersive storytelling meets cultural practice.

XR isn’t just reshaping industries – it’s rewriting what culture can feel like. The Art & Creative Industries track brings together the people doing that rewriting: the directors, designers, curators, and producers who are using immersive technology not as a gimmick, but as a genuine expansion of what art can do and who it can reach.

This is a track for practitioners and curious minds alike. Hannu Jarvensivu (Finnish National Opera) and Marta Genova (Philharmonia Orchestra) show what it actually takes to bring younger audiences into classical music through XR and AI. Charlotte Mikkelborg and Alina Goldwoman have honest conversations about what works, what doesn’t, and what separates technically impressive from genuinely felt. Marte Koeleman (Wondercast / Rotterdam Philharmonic) and Adam Nasralla (Visibyl / The Met) show what it takes to bring immersive creative work from concept to audience. Whether you’re a cultural institution navigating digital transformation, a creator exploring new formats, or a funder trying to understand where the field is heading – there’s a seat here for you.

We’re not just talking about the future of culture. We’re showing you what it already looks like.

Church of VR

Church of VR brings together the best immersive works of the year – selected for craft, ambition, and the questions they ask. Open across all three conference days.

Works in the 2026 selection engage with identity, memory, displacement, gendered fear, and emotional co-regulation. Highlights include EmbodyXR by Mercurial Dance (wellbeing through movement and immersion, funded by Innovate UK), A Walk Home Alone at Night (psychological horror grounded in lived gendered experience), Lesbian Simulator (an ode to sexual orientation told with colour, play, and a serious undertone), Lacuna (a VR documentary tracing one woman’s lost memory of WWII separation), Exodus by Hotel Modern (hundreds of refugees crossing a devastated landscape, made with 3D scanning and custom tracking), and Empathy Creatures (an AI-powered emotional installation exploring collective healing and our shared responsibility).
