Martijn is an independent design researcher and XR designer with a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, specialising in persuasive XR design. His design-oriented research explores the empathy-arousing and attitude-changing opportunities and challenges of narrative-driven immersive (XR) interactive experiences. In his work, he has collaborated with NGOs such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, OurPlanetTV, and UNICEF to promote immersive technologies in addressing complex social issues, including the displacement of people following the 2011 nuclear accident in Fukushima, Japan.
