Nienke Huitenga Broeren directs immersive experiences that sit right at the edge of memory, loss, and what it means to be present. As Creative Director of Studio ZZZAP, she makes VR work that travels – LACUNA, her VR documentary about wartime memory, was selected at Cannes Immersive, SXSW, and IFFR 2025, and nominated for a Gouden Kalf.

She is also Head of the NEXT XR talent program at Playgrounds and program advisor at IDFA DocLab – someone who shapes the field, not just her own work.
