Pirjo Spuul has spent her career getting inside the mechanics of disease – and now she’s helping build digital twins that can do the same.

As Director of the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology at Tallinn University of Technology, she leads a biomedicine research team investigating how pathogens drive disease progression. Her work on DTRIP4H brings that expertise into the digital realm – contributing to a European ecosystem of health digital twins that can model biological processes without compromising patient privacy.

She knows what it takes to push science forward from the inside: as a researcher, department head and advocate for better scientific infrastructure, she makes complex biology approachable.
