Roy Jansen works where instruction, simulation, and real-world consequences meet – the place a lot of immersive training technology actually has to prove itself.

For close to a decade, he has been an instructor at the Royal Netherlands Military Academy on the Generaal Spoor barracks in Ermelo, preparing future non-commissioned officers for the Dutch Ministry of Defence.

His job is shaping the people who will themselves be responsible for training others under pressure, which makes him the kind of practitioner worth listening to before deciding what an immersive training tool actually needs to do.
