The study, preservation, conservation, and restoration of burial sites can be a boon to researching and studying our cultural heritage, as well as ancient civilisations and cultures. It can provide key insights into their traditions, ceremonies, and so forth. However, this process is time-intensive, requiring sensitive handling of findings, as well as being costly. The EU-funded EXCALIBUR project aims to develop a holistic framework that provides researchers with tools and methodologies for researching, studying, conserving, and restoring cultural heritage objects through the use of digital twins. The platform will provide open-source, cost-effective solutions for various situations across the cultural heritage spectrum, equipping researchers with the tools needed to efficiently discover breakthroughs and insights.
