University students increasingly face academic stress, sedentary behaviors, and mental health challenges, highlighting the need for accessible and engaging interventions. However, maintaining adherence to traditional strategies remains difficult.
The YoungFitT project explores the potential of immersive virtual reality (IVR) to improve engagement and effectiveness. It will develop three VR-based interventions: High-Intensity Functional Training, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Qigong, co-designed with students and professionals.
The study will evaluate feasibility, usability, acceptability, adherence, and psychological and cognitive outcomes. Qualitative interviews will also explore user experiences, benefits, and barriers.
By combining well-being practices with immersive technology, YoungFitT aims to advance innovative digital health strategies and better understand how IVR can support mental and physical health in university settings.
